The conference theme is Embedding Birth Defects in the Continuum of Care.
Conference Objectives
The conference will be organized around the following topics, with the focus of each being on the presentation of successful models of prevention and care of birth defects and premature birth around the world:
- Birth defects surveillance and registration—issues, challenges, and strategies for establishing regional, national and sub-national systems to capture reliable data on prevalence, mortality, disability and economic costs
- Current research trends into the causes and prevention of birth defects and preterm birth
- Preconception care
- Prenatal diagnosis and maternal care
- Diagnosis of the affected newborn
- Strategies to reduce mortality and improve physical and developmental outcomes of newborns and children with a birth defect or with complications due to preterm birth
- Development of research networks and partnerships for the efficient utilization of limited resources
- The role of parent/patient organizations in planning and delivering services
- Integration of services into existing national primary health programs for the prevention of birth defects and disabilities and care of affected newborns
The conference will be structured to encourage dialogue and the sharing of experiences and best practices among health care providers, researchers, policy makers, parent/patient group advocates and other stakeholders from across the Asia Pacific region and the world.

- Authors of abstracts accepted for oral presentation will have their conference registration fee and cost of hotel accommodations waived.
- Authors of abstracts accepted for poster presentation will receive US$ 300 in financial support.

We regret that the authors of abstracts not accepted for oral or poster presentation will not receive financial assistance; however, all contributions will be recognized by being published in the conference abstract book.
